Gwyn Guy started playwriting in earnest some seven or eight years ago shortly before retiring full time from a working life spent running his own leisure sales business and latterly as a manager with Suffolk Social Services Department. However, his first attempt at a pantomime script, Pirate Island, was not chosen and is now only coming to production in 2012. A year after completing Pirate Island, Gwyn wrote a murder mystery play for a supper/theatre production only to get this rejected also by the same amdram group he was writing for.

With the formation of Eyeswrite by Alan Huckle the following year and Gwyn’s subsequent position as Vice Chair to the group, the break came when his murder mystery, Inspector Prickle and the Case of the Debenham Murder, was brought to stage as a joint venture between The Debenham Players and Eyeswrite. This played to full houses at the Long Room in Debenham early in 2006 and has since been performed by other groups.

Other plays of various genres followed over the ensuing years. These have included the completion of a trilogy of Insp. Prickle plays, another murder mystery together with full length and short festival plays, plus a number of radio plays, some of which have now been recorded for S.N.Y.A. Radio.

In 2010, following three years of collaboration with Alan Huckle, Gwyn was delighted to see the musical, La Vieille Ville produced in front of appreciative audiences at the Headmaster Porter Theatre in Framlingham. This collaboration with Alan in the musical involved both script and song writing and has now resulted in a further full length play by the two playwrights entitled Taking Flight. This will shortly be fully cast and be ready to hit the boards in 2012.
