Go-Elephant
Suffolk & Norfolk Youth Action participated in the 'Go-Elephants!' project back in 2008, helping trumpet our achievements and raising the profile of our work.
Go Elephants! was a mass public appeal art event, comprising of over 100 baby elephant sculptures that were displayed on the streets of Norwich from 23 June - 31 August 2008.
In addition to designing and painting our elephant, SNYA, headed by Toby Limbach, developed an elephant story. We teamed up with Norwich Parkour for a photo shoot and launched the project with the publication of a post card, which was distributed via schools, telling the story of why the elephant had been split from the herd.
SNYA members worked with their mentor, Clare O’Leary, over many weekends and evenings to make sure the elephant was ready for the launch date. The group decided that the design should represent activities and places that young people recognised in Norfolk. We were very proud to have our elephant positioned in the popular Chapelfield Plain.
