Local band Spitfire’s latest EP, ‘Thin Ice’ was enthusiastically received by SNYA radio listeners when
played out on the Toby Foster ‘Jump start’ show.
Spitfire was founded by best friends (from Harleston’s Archbishop Sancroft High School) and alternative rock fans Oli Foster and Max Mallett. After various gigs locally, in 2008 the group recorded their first EP entitled ‘First Flight’. Further gigs followed around South Norfolk and Norwich which enable the band to build up a loyal following and fan base.
Thin Ice is a great new sound from local band Spitfire, recorded just a couple of months ago at the Mill Studios in Winfarthing. Oli’s strong, evocative vocals, explosive guitar and drive provide a powerful and energetic live stage presence: Oli said “I feel energy in music is important. There’s nothing better than music bringing out an emotive response in someone and there’s also nothing I would rather do than just that.” Max’s melodic, runaway bass lines and soaring backing vocals bring a lot to the big sound of the band, while his soul and energy as a live performer further defines Spitfire’s strong live presence: Max added “There’s nothing more satisfying than adding the depth of the bass to our songs and belting out the chorus – magic!”
