Young radio station scoops the best for Budget interview

A new radio station staffed and run by young people looks set to 'scoop' Norfolk's finest journalists by
being the first to get a Budget interview with South Norfolk Council Leader John Fuller.
Councillor Fuller often gets a flurry of requests ahead of annual Budget debates in Cabinet and Full Council.
This year, he has said yes to an interview request from South Norfolk Youth Action Radio, which came in first after the Council published its Budget plans.
These include recommendations on Council Tax as well as details of efficiencies and savings for 2010/11.
Speaking ahead of his interview, Councillor Fuller said he was proud to be the first elected council leader in Norfolk to go onto the station.
"Young people at the station know hard times are here and no one is immune from the chill economic wind. They want to know what we are doing about it.
"I'm expecting tough questions in this particular hot seat, but I will be trying to explain to listeners that we have made savings and efficiencies, we have balanced our budget and we are keeping Council Tax down."
He added:
"SNYA Radio is a fantastic achievement and a tribute to the creative talents of our young people. BBC Radio Norfolk and Steve Bumfrey, the SNYA Radio patron, deserve a big thank you for giving this project so much support and helping it get off the ground."
South Norfolk Council worked with young people to form SNYA and more recently helped set up, part fund and find SNYA Radio its base.
SNYA members were again this year a key part of the Council's annual Budget consultation, which also included local businesses, older people and district residents from the Norfolk Citizens Panel.
After the interview, Councillor Fuller will meet and chat to production staff.
